I had made up my mind to buy one of the pattern #73 scout trappers but while looking this knife caught my eye and it was love at first sight. So I ordered.

I have the standard #48 Trapper in cocobolo and love it. Feels great in hand and those two full length blades are handy to have.

You are definitely going to love that knife. The #48 frame is great. I've got a #48 trapper in 440C with the clip + spey, and the #48 improved trapper (like yours) in 1095. Both are great knives if you are looking for something that's a bit bigger than the typical #15s but still an easy carry due to the slim frame.

The grain on that wood is stunning. I don't know if you are getting that exact one pictured, but it's a beauty. Congrats on a great choice!

Yes I made sure it was that exact knife. The grain of the wood was what really caught my eye first and then the pattern.

Nice choice for a first. I also chose a Trapper as my very first GEC knife. The Trapper pattern is my favorite. My regular carry is a #42 two blade (Missouri Trapper).

48's rock.

If you like them, also look at the Canal Street Half Moon Trapper.

I recently received a 48 in African Blackwood. I really like the frame style. Nice curves and comfortable in the hand.

I wasn't aware that Tidioute cutlery was still in business?? Wasn't that the godfather company of Kabar? Forgive me if I am sucking my toes, I thought that nobody used the Tidioute trademark anymore in production.

It's not the same company.

That 48 is nice. I have a 48 SFO in African blackwood.

GEC revived the brand name in 2006, along with Northfield Cutlery. They own both brand names now.
