Well, in my experience, you'll start out modifying the heck out of it, realize how much work goes into making one, THEN buy a $500 'hawk. ;) I recommend the Jenny Wren for a concealed carry hawk.

Yeah, your wallet is pretty much screwed. You'll eventually end up buying some of the more expensive hawks. No cure for the bug that bit you. Should you decide on a more traditional style hawk, you can get one of cold steel's spike or pipe hawks and mod them up. There's a whole sticky devoted to just that. Or maybe you dont want to DIY, so instead try places like Fort Turner, or Wolf Creek Forge. They make traditional style hawks that won't break the bank.

it will drive you nuts trying to figure out whats next, had two wood handle cold steel tomahawks ,they were fun to mod now i have been searching for a smaller self defense style like a ontario rd series in the 100.00 to 200.00 range not much to choose from unless you take a big step up,money wise, then i go and watch a you tube video of some guy busting cinder blocks with a cold steel trench hawk, looks tough, modify it with a shorter handle maybe.would be cheaper on the wallet.

I bought a CS trail and had a lot of fun with it! I now have a 575$ Winkler hawk on the way... Hold on to your wallet :D
