Congratulations!

Spydies are great knives but Sebenza is just another class imo.

ya i know i played with a couple and had to have one, i will miss the caly 3 CF/zdp and the CF sage i sold but the sebbie is worth it!

Congratulations ! Once I got my first Sebbie, ALL other folders have been collecting dust ! I EDC a large regular sebbie and use it for everything, its awsome.

I discovered that the more I used mine the more I liked it. The damned things grow on you, a real pleasure to own.

i am a student too, when i was still in HS before college i was able to buy a new knife once or twice a month now i only sell knives to get new ones:grumpy:

Congratulations! You'll definitely like it a lot. Why would it take a few weeks to get it in? Is it a custom or special order?

Congrats mate

You will love it. I have plenty of other folders, all great brands but the Sebbie is the only one in my pocket all the time

Rob i ordered it and the person i got it from said they wont get it till the end of the month so it wont ship to me for 10 more days or so :( o well i cant wait and the price was unbeatable NIB large 21 for $325 :)

So guys is there any need to know tips for a sebenza noob? i have read the cleaning sticky a couple times and ordered some para cord today to make a better 2 color lanyard any recomended reading for me?

The cleaning is so easy and enjoyable that you'll do it all the time. When putting it back together be sure not to pinch the brass washer and the pivot. When you put it back together it will be off center and the blade will rub the handle when closed. I know it sound like Duh! but I did it, and doing it is how it hit me....Duh! Felt dumb, so watch out for that. Oh yeah, enjoy its awesome knife.

Greetings Foxj: A few idiosyncrasies of the Sebenza. The mechanical tolerances are VERY tight. The first disassembly and reassembly may result in a perceived change in the amount that the lock bar travels before seating on the blade tang. This is normal. When locked open, it feels as rigid as a fixed blade. This could change your opinion of what a rigidly locked folder feels like. Remember, when re-assembling that the small washer goes on the LOCK side of the blade tang. Efficient opening requires that your thumb push the lug forward in an arc not straight forward like many other knives. It may take a WHILE to fully break in. The Sebanzas seem to really like the CRK Fluorinated grease but any thick teflon based oil lube will work just fine. With repeated opening and closings the ceramic ball detent will polish a track where it rides on the blade tang resulting in an even more fluid feel then when new. As Gajinoz wisely pointed out, that over time and through use the knife seems to grow on you. Chris Reeve must put something addicting in them. I carry one of mine everyday. I have read every Sebenza related thread in this subforum and others going back to October 1999. My conclusion: The Sebenza is not for everyone. It is however excellent at doing what it was designed to do. The preceeding is only the opinion of one old Dude. OldDude1

I've tried a few oils and greases on the washers and although fluorinated grease works fine - I've used Fomblin which is basically the same, I believe, and is what we use on our watches' rubber waterproofing-seals - I've found that old-fashioned keyless-works grease for small clocks and pocketwatches really makes the Seb sing when opened and shut.

Oil makes the blade glide easily once "on the move" but grease makes for a more controlled opening action. It's pretty likely to stay put for longer, too.

thats guys! i have read every thing i could find about them and looked a long time before i bought one, handled a couple first too, they feel amazing and i cant wait, most of the knifes i cary i have takin apart and i have got all my users back together so far lol, so i ant to worried about that, but that is one thing that attracts me to it is easy taking apart and putting back together

ya i ordered some paracord and a couple skulls yesterday so i could try and make a cool lanyard, i hope it goes well for me :)
