I just placed an order for an RC 4. I almost ordered the Ontario, thinking they were pretty much the same thing. I tried to do as much reading on the knives as I could when I stumbled onto this forum. I am so glad that I did. I would have kicked my self if I had orded a knife from a company that is basicly stealing from another. I am also proud to help support a company like Rat Cutlery that really stands behind its product. It seems you often take care of problem that are not your responsiblity. Anyway, I am glad that I educated myself before I made my purchase.

Now Jeff, if you really want to piss off Ontario...send me some free stuff. How that would piss them off I have no idea...but the free stuff just sounded good. Keep up the good work you are doing. Nice to know I am buy from a company with ethics.

I can guarantee that he does not want to piss them off. Knowing Jeff, he probably would love to sit down and have a steak and beer with the guys that are doing this to him.

Ive had my rc-4 for about a week know. Ive used it for various cutting tasks around the Fire Dept. Ya know, slicing throught my partners water bottle, slicing through a tangerine than my partner through at me, challenging other firefighter to a mop handle cutting contest. ya know, important stuff. I cleaned two fish the other day. Much better than my buddies filleting knife. Anyways, I researched also. As I always do when im buying something that I have to depend on to possibly save a life or save my own A$$. I am extremely impressed with the sharpness of this blade. I wish I wouldnt have waisted hundreds of dollars on big name knives with super hard steel, and tiger striped blades that start at 200 dollars and go way up from there.. You know who Im talking about. Those knives have the purpose, Im sure. Like prying and wedging in a block wall and then standing on it to impress your feeble minding buddies at the station. But DAMNIT!!! I needed something I could cut through an aluminum wall. Like a mobile home. or cut a seat belt. or cut a patients clothes off (quickly). or cut rope to make a harness. or pop a tire to stabilize a vehicle before extrication procedures. or skin a deer. or anything else I wanna cut with precision and ease. Most importantly, I may need to use it to protect and defend my woman, son and unborn baby. I absolutely LOVE this knife. I ordered two. One for me and another FF. He loves his rc-3. And Im glad he took my advice. I feel safer knowing that he will have the same capabilities and protection with his knife. After all, he may need to used it to save my A$$. got a call cya

Welcome and you made a good choice. My RC4 has become my EDC blade. It is even sharper since I convexed the edge.

Welcome to the nest, may it serve you well! Please keep us aprised of it's use.

Once you get it you will be hooked forever. As for Jeff wanting to do anything to Ontario, he is too much of a class act to do such a thing. As someone else put it, he much rather sit and have dinner and a beer with them.

My first RAT was an orange slabs RC-4 PE, my son took it camping last year and he never returned it.... guess he likes it !

Flair, you may also have been alarmed by the fact that there's only one RC-4... Ontario doesn't make a #4!

I'm sure the Ontario's are fine knives though. There's just that whole vibe missing that "we" do have! Plus the looks, durability, impossibly good warranty...

Don't forget the awesome warranty that RAT offers. For me that alone speaks volumes of the operation that Jeff runs.

RAT RC-4 is on my 2010 list. Congrats on getting one!

GREAT KNIFE! Time to pick out what your next RAT will be now. Oh yea, unfortunately the "old lady" will never understand. Mine has no idea how many knives I have and how much I've spent on them, guns too for that matter.
