I've been eyeballing this knife for a while, pondering if I should pick one up before it's too late. I ended up grabbing one in blue SE a few minutes ago.

I currently use a SE Salt I at work, and I was considering switching to the Dodo as my work knife when I get it. What do you guys think?

I really like the Dodo.

As far as a work knife goes, I suspect it will depend on what you cut regularly and how you cut it. I bought mine for that purpose (work) and it performed up to all my expectations. It even moved into my EDC rotation (I generally prefer 4-inch blades).

But, I believe you'll really like the handle (and the control it gives).

Congrats on joining the "club."

I'll be using it mostly for unpacking stock and cutting down boxes for recycling disposal. It will come in contact with a ton of tape, cardboard and plastic, and cutting sessions sometimes last up to thirty minutes, two or three times a day.

Sounds like you have the perfect knife for your job...I love my Dodo and carry it often. It probably replaces my Para as my favorite spyderco.

I carry my Dodo at work (large home improvement retailer) and it does everything I need. Boxes, bands, twine, rope, carpet...nothing stands up to it! With that in one pocket and my Meerkat in the other, I'm pretty much set.

I just have to make sure I get it back everytime someone says "Hey, let me see that!"

I'm going to be ordering a PE blue Dodo this week, and will be using it for similar purposes. I'm going to be using it alongside either a Benchmade 940 or Spyderco Ocelot. Do you guys think I'll be set? The 940 or Ocelot will be used for slicing, and the Dodo will be used for cardboard, ripping, etc.

Also, how hard is the Dodo to sharpen on the Sharpmaker? Can you guys give tips for new owners and future owners on what to/not to do?

I watched the Sharpmaker video again a few weeks ago, and Sal says that for blades that are curved, like a hawkbill, one should just use the corners of the stones and skip the flats. I assume that the same goes for the Dodo, so that's the way I sharpen mine.

It sounds like you will be set with your knife combo!

I think you did good! The Dodo is one knife that once you really EDC, you can't do without it.

I got my Dodo today and it has terrible side to side play. It rattles like a cheap China made knife when you shake it. Now i have to turn right around and send it in. :(

Man, that is horrible! Mine locks up like a bank vault. I'm sure the Spydie repair guys will either get yours fixed or send you a new one that isn't defective. Good luck!

I made a mistake. I didn't realize I needed two torx drivers to tighten it at first, I was just spinning the thing around and not getting it any tighter. I drove over to my cousion's to borrow one form his set because I only have one, and now it's absoluely perfect. I love it. It's so light and thin. I can't wait to take it to work tomorrow.

That's good to hear.

Mine is a bit loose in the side to side play area, but it locks up tight. Never have tightened it, though, as I like to be able to flip it open with a light wrist flick.
