So basically I know that I am not allowed to carry a locking folder in France, but am I allowed to buy and have it delivered? Like from bladehq, I want a PM2, will there be any problem in the border of EU/France on the way of shipping? Cause, I work in a lab in a small town where no one cares, no one will be checking my pockets, and I want a folder just to have it in my house, not even as EDC tool, but object of art).

I live in France. I carried PM2, Para 3,Sebby , and now a 533 Mini Bugout, as my EDC. All lockers.
Yes, I live in the sticks, 25 miles from any big town. I always carry a knife, never been stopped by the police here. They carry knives - visible in their pockets (clipped on pocket). I am an old git - 74.
I dont know if you are living in France, EU or outside Europe.

As long as you do not flash the knife around in public, no one cares. Most men carry anyway. We don't have knife crime here, unlike UK.
Have you tried buying from a French knife/cutlery shop, and get it sent to an address in France? I buy in France, as it avoids problems. Prices are not the same as USA but are competitive with UK.
Since Brexit, there are customs problems importing blades from outside EU.

Good Luck

yes, there are few cutlery shopes
nearly, I am near in Aix-en-Provance right now. But the proces are extremely hight, 120€ for basic vg10 delica)
That why I would like to order a good. folder from USA (even ebay, not a big deal), but was worried that my package would
be banned in EU, and even I will have
more problems

A word of caution about buying big brand and knife models: If you're going through all this trouble, make sure you buy from a website where selling knives is their main (or one of) business. Buying from eBay, Aliexpress, and of the like, means that there is a real chance that you won't get a genuine knife. Just saying...

Thanks for your reply. I ordered my USA made knives thru a good dealer in Paris. Prices will not be USA low , but if you shop around , you may get it a few €'s cheaper.
I have used this dealer, and have reviewed what customers have said about them . You will not have customs problems , as it is within France. I live in Nouvelle Aquitaine.

Best of luck

C crydajam - I have bought knives for a friend in Paris 5 or 6 times - or - he buys them and has them shipped to me. I then send them on by mail to him.
We have never had any issues. I most often send the knives by first class mail (inexpensive and does not take much longer than by priority - maybe one or two days extra). I say inexpensive but can still add $25.00.

If you care to trust me I would be happy to do the same for you. We can at least try it once. The down side to this system is that there is no guarantee that the mail will deliver or how quickly. So far I have had no issues. Once it leaves the US though it is all in the air - so to speak. You close your eyes and trust that you have lived a good life and that karma will be kind. ;)

THOUGH - I agree with D dandan - unless you are very keen on a specific knife you would do just as well, without any aggravation, buying a knife from a French vendor. There are good ones. We buy from them here. You aren't likely to save much buying from the US and paying S&H.

Still, you can EMAIL ME HERE to discuss if you are interested in the US plan. I'd be happy to enable - er 🤭 - to help.

Considering that France makes beautiful locking folding blades (like the Laguiole)...I find it amazing that the law basically says you cannot carry anything that can be construed as a weapon!

Weird. Things must have changed over there - back in 2000 I bought a really nice Laguiole folder that was pretty much the size of a standard bird and trout knife. They sold such things all over the country.

Laws have changed all over Western Europe...apparently as a response to 9/11 and other terrorist acts. I bought my Laguiole online from Fontenille-Pataud (and another locking folder), but hope to actually visit Thiers to buy something in person this summer.
