Ordering a Strider

I was just wondering what dealer is the best to order a Strider knife from? I placed an order for a model MH a week ago at Oso Grande Knives and got a message on my answering machine that said they didn't know if they could get it, it could be backordered if I call back, blah blah blah. I am thinking about cancelling the order and getting the knife from another dealer. Any suggestions or would I have to go through the same crap no matter what? Also about how long does it take to get a knife once you have ordered?
 
Oso Grande is a great dealer to go through. Remember that you are getting a custom knife. It is not like Buck where they can produce tons at a time. Try www.striderknives.com and check under the dealers and friends section to see the other dealers listed. Try all of them first. Then, go back to Oso and see how long they will be. Otherwise, you will wait 6 months for an order direct from Strider. The dealers get quicker turn-around on orders, so their backlog is normally shorter. Ordering direct from your closest dealer is probably the way to go. Hope this helps.

You will most likely have a wait no matter what dealer you go through. Striders have really taken off and they are busting their collective reaer to get caught up. You might be better off going straight Strider and ordering.

Hopefully you won't get lost between the cracks like I did. I ordered my custom finished Strider from Strider in March of 1999 and only after posting here and dropping an e-mail did I get a call around November of 2000. I was told 6 months in 1999 when I had the money but after buying a house in July 0f 2000 I couldn't afford it. Hope this doesn't happen to you.

It does suck being me because I really wanted the knife but now that my rent has doubled in to a mortgage it's not in the cards. What also sucks is I wasn't able to get my $65 deposit back even though I waited more than 18 month as opposed to the 6 that I was told. I figured seeing as I was "lost" by Strider the least they could do was refund my deposit but I guess not. I guess it does suck being me. Semper Fi guys!
 
I am needing it for AT, which is in three weeks. Now I know that is a short amount of time before you can get to my name on a long list and then make the knife and have it shipped to me. I will order it anyway though and I can use it at next AT, I'll just stick to my Kabar this year.

What model strider are you looking for? The only one I have right now is the PH but I will sell it to you if you want it. I gave my tigerstripe BT to my buddy cause he gets to spend a tour in Bosnia. For what it's worth, I emailed Steve at striderguys@striderknives.com at about 1700 EST today and he has already got back to me. I have had a few unanswered emails from other Strider email addresses, but those guys are chained to the grinder. Steve seems to pretty much run the office for them and is very good about getting back to you.
 
I am wanting a MH with green cord wrap grip and tiger stripe blade finish and green steath. About how long would it take for that?

One of our most important goals is to give our customers the best possible service please understand that Oso Grande has not received any shipments from Strider for months, they are behind 3 months with us. Strider says that they are working on our orders, so we are still waiting, unfortunately for us and you there is little we can do if the manufacturer does not provide us with the product. We trust that you understand the business realities under which we must operate.

All Strider knives that I own and some other brands, I purchased them from Oso Grande, I have no complain, they are one of the few dealers in the internet that answer the phone or email you back, they are a cool people, I always receive a great service from them, if they don't have your knife and call you back w/the info. ey !be happy that means they are a good dealers, others don't even return phone calls,when strider ships to them they will start shipping , I have already 3 orders w/them, I have no problem waiting because I know they are going to ship my order, I think they are great.
