Hello, everybody,
I decided to order my first Randall. I have too many questions therefore I would like to ask you, Randall knives owners, to help me to make the right choice.
In general, I would like to have knife as a collection item, but at the same time it should be functional. So far I am thinking to purchase a hunting knife because I do not think I will go to military service again, so I will not need a military knife. But anyway, which Randall knives, in your opinion, usually have higher chance to increase in price in future, military, survival, Bowie, outdoors, hunting or others?
Next question is the blade steel. What steel would you recommend for Britain and France? Probably I will take it to the sea, but very rarely.
I am interested more in knives that are good slicers. Is there real advantage to have 3/16" stock instead of 1/4" stock?
And last question, do all knives require a long waiting time? Could you tell me if there is large waiting time difference between knives with 3/16" stock and 1/4" stock?
Best regards,

OmegaA,

The Model 10 and Triathlete Randalls are available in 12 weeks. Any others take 47 months to order right now. As far as which one, I always tell first timers, buy with your heart as well as your needs.

And I usually invite them to join the Randall Knife Society. Access at:

Thanks, guys,
Could you tell me about the steel on Randalls. I know they have stainless and it is recommended for humid climates and sea, but will carbon tool steel be a problem if I intend to use my knife only a few days in a year on countryside? I thought a knife for such a price should have quite a good steel, whether it is carbon or stainless.
Regards,

Sorry, too many questions to ask: I am ready to order, but have small problem - I know that I will be moving around in the next 4 years, so I will change my address several times. I guess Randall can update address on ordered knife, but when I write email to them to get confirmation, for some reason I do not get reply. Could anybody on the Forum say that even after they moved house they still received their knife from Randall? This is just for a piece of mind :)
Regards,
