Hello,

My LE friend has agreed to order a XXM-18 3.5 for me. What is the process? What information does he need to provide?
Can the knife be ordered as Gen4 or will it be Gen3?
Can the blade steel be ordered as CTS-SXP?

Thanks

You are trying to get around a policy that is in place for a reason, buy it on the second hand market or from a dealer!

You will not get help from anyone here. Take the hint, you should not be asking what to do here.

First off, if ordering directly from Rick himself at the ranch, then your friend shouldn't be ordering you a knife for you. If you go to his site, it is mentioned plain as day that all knives should be for that person. Second of all, that is complete abuse of our discount, so it would be appreciated if you guys didn't do that. I would like to order one for myself soon , and the 10% discount has already been revoked because of things like this.

Wow, I just saw the other replies. This is EFFING nuts. Here I am dying to get my hands on a Hinderer, and can barely afford to do so even at the awesome price is Medics get, and here we have people that would so willingly abuse someone's kind gesture. I hope someone finds their names and submits them to Rick or Rob.

Good point, but what is the difference between a guy buying several and then selling them to just make a buck? A lot of guys on here say "it is his knife, he can do what he wants with it." And everyone is ok with that (maybe not everyone, but most). If you were not a medic, and someone bought one for you, would you decline? I am not qualified to buy directly from Hinderer, but you better believe if someone who is qualified bought one with the intent of gifting it to me, I would accept. If you wanted to gift one, would you buy one at twice the cost on the secondary market just to not violate this "rule?" I do understand that he is trying to infringe on a perk that is given to service providers by Rick, but what if the friend wants to do this for him as some sort of appreciation? The only difference is where the money comes from.

True, My problem with it is that when you have people delibrately trying to break Rick's stated well known rule, Rick is going to get torqued and take the option for anyone to buy them direct away! At this point I am not able to buy direct, should be here shortly and until then if you want a Hinderer you are going to have to pay for it. It is that simple.

Plus this is the second thread this guy opened. Rob already shut down the last one!

WOW.....just Wow

Woa..
Did not expect that kind of response guys
I thought my first post was deleted because I could not find it.

As far as I understand the policy on Rick's site LE and military can buy directly from him.
Now, my LE friend wants to buy me a present the XM-18 so what is the problem?

I guess the problem is that most have to buy on secondary market for double the price and feel that I somehow abuse the special treatment of LE but I do not see it this way neither does my LE friend. He buys a knife and than does whatever he wants with it.

IMHO most people would not have a problem with this if Rick would impose a rigid price control on dealers like CRK.

If your friend is truly that generous and gifting you the knife without you paying him for it then I need a friend like that. I personally find this very hard to believe as I too have friends who are LE, one who was in the city and he left the department because the pay was crap. Not like LE have $400-$600 to spend on gifts for friends.

And Rick does have price control on dealers, that is why they are more than if someone is able to buy direct. From what I have seen it appears he sets a minimum that they can sell them for.

You are to only order one knife at a time. You aren't supposed to be selling them either. Everyone's circumstance is different. What you said above is not gifting. It is cheating the system. So, yes, I do have problem with it.

And to the OP, Rick doesn't have to impose any rule or price on his knives like CRK. He isn't CRK, he is R. Hinderer. If you have an issue with his rules, maybe you should go buy from another manufacturer.

I believe Rob made his position quite clear. DO NOT start another thread on this subject.
