I am ordering a new PCKS 110 and had a question about handle material. I am looking at either the Sambar stag or the Brown Elk horn with fingergrooves and no rivets. Does one tend to be better looking or more durable than the other?

Also when I just tried to order the knife the website said the http order failed. Can the order be placed via phone at the Buck 1-800 number?

It depends on your taste but the Sambar Stag is usually a denser material and Buck has some great colored and textured stag come out of Pete's. And go for the BG-42 blade, you will love the performance.

The Pete's site has been having some problems, call it in.

Hi Mike,
Yep, Buck's stag is really pretty to look at but then so is their elk horn. Both are good choices in handle material so it really comes down to which one sets off more bells and whistles when you look at it. And let's be realistic here. This may be your first 110 from Pete's but I'll bet it won't be your last. ;) So the handle you don't choose this time will likely be on the next one. By the way, their jigged bone is very nice as well.

If you're having troubles with ordering over the web then the people at Buck would be glad to help you out. Just call the 800 number and explain what happened. Just a bunch of great people there!

Take care,
