im getting a new recoil spring for my S&W 1076 in 10mm, i was wondering what would the advantage be to ordering a 18-22 lbs spring or a 14-16 lbs spring VS. the factory 17 pound spring? Thanks alot

Depends upon what loads you shoot the most of.....hot loads will be more comfortable and do less damage to the frame with the heavy spring.....light target loads may not reliably cycle the slide back with the heavier spring.

Hot loads will batter the hell out of the lighter spring, but light target loads will cycle fine with the lighter spring.
