Kershaw has to check with their legal department to see if it's ok to send all the screws, screw retainers, pivot pin and stud so I can put a 0350 together, you see I live in the commie state of NY

This is not a bash against Kershaw, but a bash against NY. I definately can't move to a more friendly state.

Why not just move to Jersey?

Yes, why would anyone choose New York over Jersey? :) ha.

What's the law they think it breaks? I don't know that much about new york knife laws but I can't believe screws and such are illegal. Good on kershaw for actually checking though.

I think it has to do more that when the knife is put together, it'll be illegal, but I have no knowledge of the New York knife laws, so I could be wrong.

Why do you need so many pieces in the first place?

All in all I think its good info to know the top notch KAI customer service might have to jump through some hoops for its customers in the unfortunate State of NY. Hell, all the more reason to more, lol. I requested parts yesterday and today I received an email the parts were on the way. More importantly though, WTH did you do to that poor 0350. I mean really, a new stud...

So are you giving KAI a thumbs down because they are being diligent legally for their own benefit or because you might not get the parts? Just curious.

Ya, sucks you live in a communist state, shipping knife parts there for a banned knife could be illegal.

I'm not trashing Kershaw, and I bought the knife with parts missing figuring I could get her up and working.

Okay cool. It just looks like the thumbs down is intended for Kershaw. I was merely curious. Keep us updated on if you get the parts and get it back up and working properly. Good luck!

Rmeron, I think people are interpreting this thread as a bash on Kershaw rather than a bash on the State of New York. It would help if you edit your original post to clarify this.

In this sue the %$#%&*'s society that we live in, it is just a large corporation trying to cover their a**. Probably from advice from their legal department. On the Buck forum, a member called to get some screws for his clip that he had broke/lost. They replied that they could not send them to him, but he could send his knife in and they would repair the clip. Their reasoning was that it was a legal liability for them. Pretty lame when we can't replace three screws on the outside of a knife without the mfg feeling threatened. Due to his posts on here and subsequent e-mails, they gave in and said "just this time".

I am not bashing Buck or KAI for their stand in this, as they have to follow their legal dept advice. It is just a shame that our country has come to this fear of lawsuits and political correctness. We have only ourselves to blame though.

Blessings,

Omar

Wow! New York is even better than I thought! I hope this all gets worked out. KAI has one of the best CS I have ever dealt with.
