Oreck Air Filter?

Can't speak about blueair, but I do have an older oreck air filter. The filter technology is good, but orecks design in regards to the fan motor had some issues. Basically that section wasn't properly sealed off from the rest of the cleaner, and there were enough air gaps that the fan would suck some unfiltered air through the electronics and motor section of the machine, which eventually caused some real problems. (edit: to clarify, dust built up over a period of a couple years on the internal electronics and motor, and seems to have caused them to partially burn out) My fan motor or the controller has also pretty much failed, and the unit is out of warranty. The squirrel cage type was never the quietest in the world and with the bearing wear and dodgy motor it's not something you want to sleep around while it's turned on. I plan on rigging some 12v computer case fans to it, should move more air and be quieter.
The new ones I have no experience with, but with my previous experience I'd have a hard time recommending one.

I've often wondered if they make a whole house HEPA filter, kinda like a central vac?
