Hi all,
I know Fallkniven mods are nothing new, but this is my third mod and I'm pretty proud of how it came out so I wanted to share it with someone. Anyone. You know the feeling. There are a few imperfections that are really bothering me, so I may fix them once the sun comes up again.

The knife.

You can see a bit of the contours I put in the handle.

Crazy burl. Looks like a bunch of stomata.

Gratuitous final photo.

I often see Fallknivens with cool handles but had only seen them sold with Thermorun handles on. I suddenly saw F1 blanks for sale at Knifeworks and jumped on it--kind of odd that it costs more than a finished F1, and it wasn't even finished that well, with an unsquared and unpolished tang, leading me to believe all F1s are like that under the handles. So why more expensive?

I had fun doing this anyway. Took all day. And the popular shape and size is great since it fits in a sheath I had made for a Busse CABS, and I don't doubt it wouldn't fit in a Bark River Bravo sheath either.

Thanks for looking!

Hey man, thanks for replying. It fits perfectly. My hand, of course.

Here's a shot to show the contours.

Here's how it fits on the palm of my hand... the swell is perfect for my palm, and the bases of my index and pinky fit into the forward and rear grooves, respectively.

And with a grip, the pinky goes in the rear groove and the thumb goes into the forward groove.

I was lucky. I just sanded away and it happened to work. Then again, I'm sure I could've adapted to whatever I ended up with, as long as I did something to it... thick, blocky, flat scales are just not my thing.

nice! i like the contours on that one and the location of the lanyard hole. i sold my regular f1 because the handle was a tad too thin for me and the pinky rested on the lanyard hole. that's how custom knife makers get started...all you need is a kydex bending rig and you're well on your way to selling one knife a week to alvin :D
