Not only is Oregon a good state to live in, except for the high taxes, we also have a lot of knife companies here... Benchmade, Al Mar, Gerber, Kershaw, CRKT, Leatherman, Lone Wolf, not to mention custom makers like Bob Lum, Bill Harsey and I'm sure I'm forgetting some others. Just wondering if any other states have a large concentration of knife manufacturers and or custom makers....

Hopefully Camillus can pull through.. Are they doing anything with the old Schrade plant ?

Not only does Bill Harsey make great knifes but he's a GREAT guy too. :)

He's a customer of mine here in Eugene Oregon.

At this point I would guess Camillus doesn't have a chance of recovering. The reason is that it is being run by the bank holding the company's debt. I've never seen a bank run a manufacturing company effectively. I think their goal is recover as much of the debt as possible, not to build a company for the future. I hope I'm wrong.

I think it was posted last night that it closed for good. Employees are not coming back after Wednesday. :( :( :( Sad story for sure.

Oregon is a horrible state to live in. You DO NOT want to come here. In fact, the rest of you owe a debt to those of us who sacrifice our lives to fill this terrible void so that you won't get sucked into it.

I loved this morning's news report on OPB, "Coming up, Oregon joins a five-state pact to combat global warming. But first, this list of snow-related school closing..." It's a myth that it rains a lot in Portland. The fact it that it only rains once per year.... of course it starts in September and continues through April, but it's just one storm per year. And despite that, we have water rationing many summers.

Yeah, I'm sure the local TV news will be there to follow the forlorn employees as they exit for the last time and evil managment chains and paddlocks the poor plant behind them and then follow as the employees, heads held low, sadly make that last dreary walk to the parking lot and board their Hondas and Kias for the drive to the unemployment office.

Anyone know a good knife shop in Eugene? Cause the only one around here I've heard was exceptional was in Reedsport.

William Henry recently moved up here, too.

Can't wait for the Eugene show coming up . . . . it's unbelievable how big it is. Last year it took me 4 hours to quickly walk the floor once.
