I have a few sets of throwers ranging from 4 3/8'' to 12'' all double sided and fixed, I have thrown knives and hatchets for 15 years and only did it on the job site or at home, so I had not thought about the legal questions. Am I legal at home? can they be carried not concealed out side the home? use at public, state, parks? I have looked for a good while but seem to go in circles when it comes to a straight answer, May I have to actually call the sherrifs office or some other drastic measure?

Well, I had to call the police here and for those who care, there are no regulations on length, or weight of a fixed blade knife (considered a dirk or a dagger). The only stipulations are that you do not carry concealed, and the obligitory comon sense laws that follow anywhere in the U.S. no public parks, restraunts,...ect...
All single edge folding knives have to be under 4.5 inches in length and follow the same common sense. All double edge blades have to be under 3.0 inches. All automatics are banned.

What did they say about the tomahawks? I was throwing in the woods with my boys last summer at Deception Pass campground and didn't even consider that it could be a "bad" thing. Law is getting way out of hand.

Edit: Just to clarify, we were not throwing in the camping area itself but at big stumps/downed trees in the back woods and on the beach into driftwood. I'm not completely out of my mind . . . . at least not yet. Ha

I did not ask, but I am a framer and I throw a 28 oz vaughn rigging axe, I carry 3 of them almost everywhere I go, I know that if they are within reach in my truck I can get nailed for brandishing a weapon if I show it to anyone while driving, not that I do or would. Your question makes me wonder, so I will find out and post later.
