These two knives came in today; an AG Russell Sting I plus a Sting II, both originals from 1977 and complete with sheaths in their original boxes.
These knives were bought by a Dutch collector in the manufacturing year, and both were never used or even sheathed and spent over 30 years in a closet.
They are as pristine as they were on the day they were made. :)

yes! a great find indeed.
however, the "othello" trademark on the "sting" is in fact peculiar to europe.
which came as an unspecified shock to A.G. when Wingen produced them initially.

Really nice score!!! I looooove those old Stings. Those would look right at home alongside an Al Mar Fang.

Those boxes were only done for knives intended for European sale. The Othello mark is also limited to knives sold in Europe.

Vintage AG Russell Sting II dagger with polished double hollow grind blade & inlayed Coral Rucarta handle panels.
Integral one-piece construction made by Solingen manufacturer Anton Wingen Jr. for AG.Russell USA, and the knife pictured is the European version with both logo's on the blade (the US version only has AG.Russell's logo)
The Sting II is the larger version of the earlier production Sting I

Specs:

Overall length: 7.95 inch (20.2 cm)
Blade length: 3.74 inch (9.5 cm)
Maximum blade thickness (ricasso): 4.3 mm
Handle material: Coral Rucarta (burgundy red Micarta)
Sheath: Leather with clip
Weight (knife only): 142.0 grams
Weight (knife + sheath): 195.0 grams

Very nice find!

Are those holes in the top of the sheath original? What are they for?
