I have a few but been noticing that a lot of people are selling. Does anyone collect them and if you do can you show us your collection, thanks.

Dinokay,

You put that question in interesting fashion. I'll render my thoughts, and look forward to those of others. Regarding collecting, quite frankly, I don't pay much attention to standard blade steel for CRK folders (ATS-34, BG-42, S30V, S35V). Each was arguably (yes, lots of arguments . . .) the best material of their day. I do, however, collect for significance in CRK history: your most recent UG, for instance, which I am guessing Chris did himself; H models; P models; numbered regulars, etc. It just so happens that many of these historical pieces are from the ATS-34 era.

Hey Fooj,

I totally understand from a collectors point of view when your collecting a piece of CRK history but what I'm referring to is your standard Original ATS-34 Sebenza. For me, there is no other folder out there that comes even close to the original sebenza (production or custom), it is perfection at the highest level. Just wondering if anyone else felt the same way about the standard original sebenza and if they collect them.

The two that I have handled did have a special feel to them. Maybe it was the super polished blade or how smooth they open up. It feels like they had special quality control in the early days.

Ahhh, yes. I'm tracking now. The original Sebenza, with the high polish hollow ground blade, and the thumb stud with the hand-applied non-symmetrical grooves. Not all of the ATS-34 Sebenzas are like that (for instance, the early regulars were ATS-34), but the ones that are -- those are a very special, for sure. I do indeed try to acquire any that come my way. :)

I have a small P that someone put a clip on, that's my only ATS-34.

Wonderful knives, I never picked up a decorated model done by Chris himself but have a few of the plain Jane versions.

Now that's what I'm talking about, everything about the early plain jane sebenza is just perfect a 10. I just haven't been able to find another folder that feels that good in my hand and was wondering if you guys and gals collect them as well.

The clean lines and simple design appeal to me.

I do like that polished blade. I know the SW would look better with use, and I use mine, but that shiney steel is sexy.

It's funny how the camera doesn't pick up the small scratches and rub marks cuz all but three are used. It's more than the shiny blade, it's the thicker Ti scales and how it feels in the hand (balance), it's the thump stud that bites the thump when working the action, it's the silky smooth opening and closing action, it's the design of the thump grove and how it all comes together. It's the greatest folder ever produced IMHO and I can say that because of all the folders I've owned.

I have never had an "original" , but do own several "P"s. Is there any difference between the 2 models? Thanks, Bart
