Hello all! My name is Steve. I have been a long time lurker, quietly soaking up as much info as possible. I just purchased a "new old stock" BK2 which I now have some concerns about so I thought I'd come on and ask the experts. Does anything about these pics raise any red flags with you?

This is how it arrived.

No stamping on the other side.

Lastly, the BK2 is supposed to be .25" thick. This one is quite a bit thinner.

When it arrived it had a thick coating of what I believe to be the factory grease. The edge was not sharp, there were some pretty bad scratch marks left on the bevel from grinding, and the bevel on one side did not match the other. I fixed the bevel and edge on my water stones. Also, is the sheath on the original BK2 kydex or glass filled nylon like the KaBar Beckers? After I fixed the edge, I put it in the sheath, and after some more ins and outs of the sheath the edge is dull again. I'm thinking I need a better sheath. Thanks for reading and for any help or info you may have.

Nope looks good. As far as features and whatnot. It may need some sharpening love though.

Its a glass filled sheath, unless you really like sharpening get a new one. Serrated bk2's are pretty hard to come by as well.

It looks like the bevel is way off on the logo side.

If I was you Id keep the knife out of the sheath until you get a new one but thats just me.

That one you got there was from what I have read and understand was meant for military applications , and as far as I know all camillus Becker's were around 0.208-0.210s thick and have some heat treat issues .I have the unserrated version and have passed all the same questions to members here. I have literally ran mine through the ringer trying to find her weeknesses but the only thing I've found is that the edge retention does not match up to the new K-Bars.

There is a post on Fixing the glass filled nylon sheaths.
They are actually solid sheaths for modding purposes and can be turned into a damn nice carry rig.
Don't give up on it, fix it.

original to Camillus, but the original originals are much older yet.

they used to be 1/4 inch in the far away time, Camillus made them thinner, KaBar makes them fat again.

somewhat collectible but then again, use the snot out of it.

It was off, I've since fixed but now it needs to be touched up again because of the sheath.

It looks like warrior is talking about the primary grind. Looks like it was probably hand ground, I'm not sure how things worked with Camillus... Nice score, BTW!

I doubt they were hand ground. I'm pretty sure the grinding machines had a glitch in them or something. Cant remember for sure so dont hold me back on that if I'm wrong.

made on friday

course, it might also be a "second" from near the end of Camillus days. there's a lot of crap now floating around, some of which made it to auction.
