I am looking into getting a Hest Original fixed blade and was wanting some input from you guys. Any input on any of its properties will be appreciated.:D

I've had one for about two years and love it. It rides in my cargo pants front pocket in it's sheath (slick without any molle locks). I use some cord with a cord lock, which will allow me to use it as a belt sheath within seconds if needed. Back to the knife. It is a great size for what I wanted. I wanted a knife which would give me some strong tools during an emergency, but be carried at all times. The HEST gives me an extremely strong and stout blade with great ergonomics and adds a prybar. Have I ever NEEDED the prybar? No, but I've never needed airbags either. I've seen a lot of knives with broken tips, so we know prying with knives happens:) To me, it is a perfect, easily carried disaster tool. I feel much better having a tool like this available and think everyone would be better off having something like this around. It's also a really handy knife. I haven't really used mine for the typical woodsy uses, but feel it would work well enough. It's a little thick at 3/16, but I'm not going to be carving chess pieces and prefer the strength. I believe Mistwalker used one outdoors for quite awhile and liked it a lot. Hopefully, he'll chime in or you can search for his review. Good luck.

Like most other ESEE's , it's got kind of a thick edge. Mine came sharp, but it's not the best slicer. Every knife has it's place, and this one is of course for HOSTILE environments. To carry it everyday, well that has it's pro's and con's. Many say the prybar just gets in the way, until you may use it. The handle is kinda thin, IMO, just depends on your hands, and how hard you push on the knife. I prefer something wider, but then again a flat thin scaled knife does lay against the body better.
I didn't like to EDC the HEST, I did for a while, then gave it to my Brother. He leaves his in his car, it's a good emergency tool for that, or a pack. I just prefer knives with thinner edges that focus on cutting, not being a prybar or a bottle opener.

Its a decent knife...the prybar will poke you if you have larger hands (had to cut my prybar off :D) for the cost, I would rather have a ESEE 4 or 3. My leatherman has better tools and I can open a bottle with almost anything solid anyhow :) Now the folder, on the other hand, is one of my favorites...I would put it up against a strider (or any similar heavy folder) any day of the week

it's my camping and hiking knife...if i could wear a fixed in the city i'd wear it...of all the fixed knives i can use/bring with me, the HEST is my favorite because it has the most utility...i'm looking to pick up the Woodsman version of it soon...

I bought mine from the first production run and it's my most used knife period. It has been EDC'd since I purchased it. The handle is 10 times more comfortable than the ESEE-3/4. It's one of those designs that performs tasks meant for much larger knives with ease, and she's a real slicer all the while. It's a do-everything go to knife and I use it without reserve-it takes everything and asks for more. I very highly recommend it, moreso than any other knife I own.

Remains one of my favorites for outdoor, camping, replaced my F1 as the go out knife, and it has the cool factor all over it, while still being a great capable little knife.
