Wondering if anyone can tell me about the history of the Busse Leprechaun Edition blades? I have a Fat ASH-1 and a Game Warden that I'm interested in learning more about. Thank you in advance for anyone that can help.

That totally confirms my suspicion :)
But seriously, does it reference anything other than the color scheme itself? Like the age of them?

I recently picked up a safe queen Leprechaun AD, and turned it into a user!

Beyond that, iirc, they were jungle green coated blades with green linen micarta scales. I do not know how many Leprechaun models there were, but I know there was at least a Meaner Street, Active Duty, Game Warden, ASH, and FBM in the color scheme.

ETA: I think these started showing up around 2004 or so. Not sure what the most recent one was, but it's been awhile since we've seen much anything from Busse in green linen micarta.

They sure do!!! One of my favorites!!! Sure wish they'd offer it again!!! The new green canvas is a minor consolation I suppose.

Thank you very much SpyderPhreak for passing on some of your knowledge. That's a beautiful piece you scored by the way! It's also good to see that there are other people that actually use them as well. I can understand wanting to keep a knife beautiful if you plan on reselling it one day. I have a handful of Safe Queens myself. But since the moment I got these and held them, the last thing I've ever thought about was putting them away and not using the hell out of them! Thanks again for your help!

The first time I saw "Leprechaun" semi-officially associated with Busse knives was when the Game Wardens came out. They were released one handle/blade combo at a time through the Busse Company Store (an associated but independently owned operation that quit doing business a few years ago), and each combo was given (or picked up) an name when it came out at the Company Store. For instance, .220 satin with black and blue G10 was dubbed the "Bruiser Warden," .140 satin with black G10 was the "Black Tie Warden," and .195 OD green with green linen was the "Leprechaun Warden." Maybe those names for particular combinations predated the GWs, but my impression was that they were assigned sort of on the fly by a consensus of BF members when the GWs came out, and some of the names stuck with particular combos or handle materials--e.g, "bruiser" for black and blue G10, "bloody" for black and red G10, and I guess "Leprechaun" for green and green linen.

So, for instance, when I bought a green and green linen FBM, it wasn't sold as a "Leprechaun Edition," it was just one of many possible combos you could order from the Busse website.

.

Whew. That's a sexy knife. I hope some more leprechauns get released around st Patrick's day. Or some type of GREEN is offered on Busse knives again. Got my first moss green on a SYKCO skinner last night, looks great. Think would prefer the jungle green though, maybe. Would really like for some type of "fancy" micarta to be offered soon too. Looks phenomenal.

Thank you very much John the Texan! That was an awesome abundance of truly helpful knowledge to acquire about a company I'm trying to learn a lot more about. I sincerely appreciate it! Now if I could just learn how to upload a damn picture, life would be great!?

You can use the "insert image" icon (the third one to the left of the spell check button) for a thumbnail, or you can upload the picture to PhotoBucket or a similar hostin website and then copy the "IMG" link and paste it into your post.

Yep, that's it. Still have all the Leps down below in the safe room.

Dannnnn... love that handle, thats kind of what I was hoping for when they
Said Green Micarta is coming.... But the green that came will do just fine....

I had the same AD. love the jungle green blades but I thought the linen was kinda slick compared to micarta. IMO

Ah, the old heady dayz of the Busse Co. Store.. :)
I do miss 'em... Leppy pix with others & "Skunk junk" :D

Skunks Junk in a box??? No still sounds weird.

The Junk that Skunk put in a box.....

Didn't some one get a pile of hair from Skunks Junk? That sounded even worse......

Mmmmmm......skunk junk.

There was a FFBM as well. With the jungle green and linen

I was lucky/persistent enough to find a Lep Game Warden (my avatar) and a Lep Active Duty which I prize along with my two satin/green linen GWs (no inquiries, please).
I also had a Fat Lep Game Warden (.280) as shown in the photo below, but unfortunately I let loose and it got away
