Hi All,
Apologies if this question is for noobies. I have just come about appreciating knives in general. My dad passed this Linder-Messer original bowie and would like to know more about it, its steel characteristics (what steel was it made from), history and etc.
Googling, I was only able to find the below under search "5 Iraqi eagle marked linder-messer". Although mine does not have the Iraqi eagle mark, below description is accurate about which I have.
"Blades marked "ORIGINAL BOWIE KNIFE" on right side. Left side of blades are also marked "ORIGINAL LINDER-MESSER / SOLINGEN * ROSTFREI / NO STAIN INOX MADE IN GERMANY". Forward of this is the "REHWAPPEN" trademark. All have brown leather sheaths with snap enclosures marked 'MADE IN GERMANY" on the inside of the belt loop"
I intend to use this for my teckking and fishing trips in land ond off shore. Wondering if the knife is capabale of being a survival or bushcraft and is it really got at resisting rust.
Your help is much appreciated.
Thanks.
