Just getting around to posting my favorite find from Blade 2008. At first, I thought this was a fake, but when I pulled Chris over to take a look, he confirmed that it was one of the first 80 one-piece knives that he made -- in the early 80's in South Africa. "It's a Mark IV, before we had named the knife, and before we marked the knives "Made in South Africa. I initially machined the hilt straight across, as opposed to curved, and this knife is one of those."

In keeping with the "start a separate thread for discussion" policy of the Just Images thread, I'd like to launch this one. Chris said he made Mark IV's, which feature 7" blades and sawbacks, as well as Aviators. Has anyone seen either of these straight machined hilt, unmarked knives before?
