Anyone have an original satin blade serial-numbered Commander from '98? How are the fit/finish compared to the current 2000 models? I'm interested in finding one (HINT!)

RFrost, I have one from the 98 blade show that I bought from Emerson serial number 62. The fit and finish was definitely better than on the examples I saw at the 2000 Blade show. I prefer the thicker scales and liners on the 98 model also the lock up (maybe due to the thicker liners) is better than on other newer models I have seen (I hope this helps).

Robert, I honestly don't know. I don't believe as many satin ones were made in 98. I looked over some at the time but mine is a black-T coated model.

Were there any plain-edged numbered ones made? Any examples I've ever seen of this particular knife have the 50/50 serrated blade.

FWIW, my Commander is a '98, thick handles, plain edge, black-ti and numbered 431. Just throwing that out...

All 98 Commanders were plain edge. Serrating them requires a special serrating wheel which EKI did not get until 99. However some 98 Commanders have been sent back since then to be serrated.
