I'm obviously new here and was looking for some help. I have an original, SOG Tomcat and was wondering what the collector value on this knife might be.

It has seen VERY little use. Locks up very positive, hardly any dicernable side to side wiggle in the blade and the raised diamonds of the kraton are all still sharp looking. The thing looks as though it just came out of the box, which I do not have, nor the sheath any longer. The only marks on it are some minor scratches on the blade near the edge from a poor sharpening job when I was a kid. It's been sharpened only twice and rode in a pickup glovebox it's entire life. I've had it A LONG TIME and it's probably the first year production, or very close. Any help would be appreciated as I'm not a collector in that sense ( I just love nice blades ), can't find any info on possible collector value and am actually looking to use this Tomcat as possible trading stock for an Esee 5 depending on it's value.

I've posted this question in the SOG forum and Levine's also. Thowin' out multiple lines in hopes of a response.

Thanks.

between $100 and $150 for sure, it's hard to be exact.

it's easy to tighten the wobble > clamp it at the pivot area in a vise with rubber jaws and crank down a bit.

and btw?, if you try my suggestion you are on your own if any problems are incurred.
i realize you are probably already aware of this but i thought it wouldn't hurt to be obvious about it.

i did it to a Tomcat and it worked out, good luck!

Thanks Carbide. The wobble is so slight that it is insignificant, I just mentioned it thinking that I wanted to disclose everything I could about the knife to get an honest appraisal by someone who might feel that might make a difference. I believe you about the heavy vise trick, but think I'll just leave it alone. It's in like new condition and with my luck....;)

You are welcome. My Tomcat went for $105 on ebay but had alot of scratches on the blade / kraton still sharp / no wobble or other defects. I had watched a few other TCats on ebay as well, sometimes there aren't any but give ebay a shot for some ideas on the approximate value.
