If you remove the slotted screws the
handle slabs can be removed from the knife
correct? Are they held on by anything else?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think I remember hearing that they're held on by something else; something very strong, which makes removing the handle slabs very difficult.

I think the slabs are preasure applied and even if the bolts are removed you're still gonna have to destroy the slabs in order to remove them. Just send it back to the Busse shop and they will remove them for you.

My Variant has no handle slabs! It uses a cord wrap.
I was looking at some pictures of the original Steelheart and noticed the screws in
the handle. I was thinking about getting
some made if it was not a big deal just to try them out.

Nopers. Handles are glued or something like that in addition to the screws. I've sent my old style SH for that matter once.

Putting slabs on would require drilling fastener holes, and drilling into an already tempered steel is obviously a tough feat. I bet sending it to Busse would be the best way to have it done. Then you don't run the risk of ruining bits or the temper.

The holes are there under the cord wrap.

Ok,
Handle screws and handle plates with a little
Loc-tite on the screws should work.
Anyone know where I can get some or have some made? I would prefer a "rubber" slimline type pair of plates.
