Original Tanto Prototype

Does anyone know who ground the original tanto prototypes for Cold Steel?

first of all, what original "Tanto" are you speaking of...

Konjo? Master Tanto? Recon Tanto? Miini Tanto, Imperial Tanto, Magnum Tanto, Kobun, GI Tanto...there's at least two dozen different Tanto shaped blades from CS...

The Original Design. The Master and Imperial design. The one that put Cold Steel on the map.

Short answer: No.

Short of asking Lynn Thompson himself, you're not likely to find out. There was an initial batch of the Pachmayr- or possibly Kraton-handled Tantos that didn't possess a stamp indicating country of origin. It is believed that those are possibly the Buck-supplied models, though that's never been confirmed.

If you're asking about the smooth-handled, guardless models depicted in the some of the earliest Cold Steel ads, good luck! I've never heard of anyone even seeing one outside of those ads, let alone discovering anything about their origins. They look like Lums, but he wasn't the only person grinding tantos at that time.
