Hello All,
I have a large amount of osage orange wood that has been cured for about 100 years. It makes awesome knife handles and so hard it might make a good blade(yeah right).
I have Lengths of wood ranging from two inches in diameter up to about 8 inches.
Email me if this offer interests you and I will do my best to get you what you need.
Cheers,

luker,
How much$? Do you have any with unusual grain/figured, etc.? All of my Bois D'arc is pretty much straight grained.

Cured for 100 years? What's the story behind it? Sounds interesting. Please post some prices.

How long is it? Are there any pieces that are long enough and have straight enough grain to make bows?

Good questions guys. The wood was in the ground as corner posts and the smaller made up part of the line fence. The farmer i work for said that the posts had been in the ground since the beginning of the nineteen hundreds. Now i am not sure exactly how many years they had been in there but know they had for atleast 70 years.
some of the posts are fairly strait while some are real bent. Even the bent ones could be cut up into usable sections for handles.
The price, well i don't want to charge much, i kinda want to do it as a service to you guys on bladeforums.Maybe a few bucks a foot. the price isn't really significant though because I'd like to share this wood.
There might be some pieces big enough for bows that are strait. I am a very amatuer bowyer so i kinda know what it takes to make a good osage bow but i wouldn't want to send wood that you couldn't use.
Just email me if you are interested and with what you want.

Concerning the prices of wood.....jantz supply has wood ranging in price from $.50 to $1.05 per cubic inch for their hardwoods. I intend to offer wood at a fraction of Jantz Supply's cost. Will charge on the basis of useable handle material.
I will try to post a website url within a few days so you can see pictures of different grain cuts. I will also post some prices, which again will be very reasonable.
Again, my main intention is to get some good handle wood out to you all.
I need input from you on the size and amount of wood you want. Feel free to email me because I need to know what is a fair price to you.
Luke

We cut up some old posts (osage orange) about dark you could see sparks fly off the wood. Probably will make good blades.
