Any bow makers out there I got this a few years ago and I was wondering if this stave would make a decent bow. It's 63" long has a slight twist to it if I can't build a bow with it I will probably make a tomahawk haft from it. Thanks

Nice stave. Got a good ratio of summer wood to spring wood (the light and dark rings). That makes it easier to follow the grain when establishing the back. With that much twist it would be a tough first bow. You can compensate for the twist when you tiller the bow but its not easy. I would recommend cutting it in half and using a scarf or finger joint put it back without as much twist. It's tough to find a good stave that length.

nice advice, cutting and re-joining to remove the twist. I was thinking the twist should disappear if you follow the grain carefully and once you string it.

I agree...I've seen some remarkable osage "character" bows but you have to be careful. I was fortunate enough to have a dead-straight stave for my first attempt.

I am starting to think this stave might be a little much for me I wonder if I can find a pro and send it to them to make one for me.
