I went to buy a minigrip a little while ago, which of course, I knew they were out of the kind I wanted (minigrip w/t hole in the blade, half and half serrated, black hilt) so I had them order one. While I was waiting, I saw something I'd been looking for--the 960 Osbourne. In fact, the only one in the entire city. I love this knife. It's the right size. It actually isn't even perfect--I've been looking for another half and half. I have some questions about it from owners.

It seemed difficult to do the patended axis-lock flip in and out. Can I loosen it up, or will the skills just manifest themselves (I can do it okay with the minigrip, but not with the 960). Any problems? Is the D2 steel good in this one? They have it for 80 dollars under list...so I'm realllllly tempted to buy it. There's another store that has a switchback straight edge for 130 too that I'm interested in.

Any other info.

I've handled my friend's Switchback ,and I hate it, personally. Blade like a kitchen knife. He said the sharp handle tends to dig painfully when sitting as well.

Well, I did FINALLY get the chance to play with one in the store today. I loved it, except for the fact that I had trouble doing that classic benchmade opening/closing technique with the axis lock (I don't have much trouble doing it with other benchmade axis lock knives). I want to make sure I can do that with this knife. Anyone have experience with that?

The store has it marked down eighty dollars. I want it.

I own an osbourne 960 and you are right - the axis lock doesn't flick out as easy as the larger benchmades.

I'm hoping that maybe with proper lube (miltec and heat treatment?) and frequent flicking, the action will free up somewhat.

$80? THAT'S IT for the 960 in D2?? GRAB ONE! New Graham, which is the cheapest has em for 120$-sh

If you loosen the screw ever so slightly, you should be able to flick it out

Oh man, I wish. It's 120 there, but it's marked down 80 dollars FROM the 200 list. It's weird how you can have like four 200 dollar knives, three of which are marked down 20-40, and then the most beautiful of them, is marked down 80.
