Not so long ago, I had a friend, Tim Olt, make a knife for me. I designed it, specified a 6 inch blade, of thick A2 steel and Micarta handles. I named it my 'Osceola Companion', because I bum around in the Osceola National Forest a lot. :)

I was very pleased with it, and asked if he could do another, identical in design, but this time in S30V. Thinner steel this time, and a wood handle.

I received this second 'Osceola Companion', today. The work is flawless. The handle is Bocate. This is a great bushcraft knife.

I'll take this along, the end of the month, for a hike on the AT. Bigger knife than I need there, but what the heck.

I like the bladeshape on it. Although I would prefer it in some type of carbon.

The blade thickness on for the S30V blade is .20 inch.

There is another, identical in shape, but made of .28 A2. That one has Micarta handles.

Here are both knives together.
