so picked one up from an authorized dealer...no ebay or amazon nonsense sellers. a big long term seller with a solid reputation.

so sheath isnt marked secure x...but hunting down pics on other dealers sites dont show it labeled. knife barely fits in the sheath......no way tp seat it without dragging on the sharpened side on the sheath. gets hung up if trying to ride the unsharpened side. once seated almost impossible to get back out without taking the pressure off the guards, so two hands needed.

snap strap on sheath doesnt fit around handle without really torquing it and it has left an imprint in the kraton handle.

pics online show it is likely the right sheath.....that was my first thought.

other weirdness....logos on blade are very light and look very cheaply and poorly done.

so looked at other pics on dealers sites and it appears legit. so i highly doubt its a fake.

i own many cold steels, but this one is a fail and badly. gonna have to make my own kydex sheath and use this one as a beater.

yeah figured id have to but i hate loading pics....give me a bit and ill update this post.

Yeah I know what you mean. My OSI also has very light logo printing. Can hardly see the "TAIWAN". And yeah, more importantly, the sheath for this knife sucks big time. It does hold the knife firmly. But I have to use both hands to pull it out, being very careful to push the sheath with my thumb. They really should've gone with leather. If you cannot pull this knife out quickly, it's kind of pointless. I'm using mine as a beater too.

thanks for the feedback, Sir. kept thinking i got a fake somehow or the one worst made. good to hear these are just poorly made across the line. which is a sad thing to say but better than what i was fearing.

No definitely not a fake. Mine looks exactly like yours. Got mine from newgraham, so I know it's legitimate.

There are two nubs on the inside lip of the sheath that hold the lower part of handle. File/grind and smooth (dremel tool works) these to relieve the holding pressure and make drawing easier. Alternately, you can try grinding one of them down, then use thumb pressure on the lip that still has the nub to release. If I did not already make my own sheaths, that is what I would do.
