Hey all - I had the good fortune of winning the Warthog knife from Chris at Osprey Knife and Tool a few weeks back. I wanted to share my impressions of the knife and share some pictures of a sheath i made for it. First, just as a reminder - this is the knife...

I was really impressed with Chris's work - the knife is extremely well made, beautifully balanced and a little heavier than you'd expect, in a good way. And it's even better looking in person than in pictures. it's a great size and the grip design is subtle but really comfortable in the hand. it's perfect for a multitude of knife related tasks, including cutting my finger a little bit on the razor sharp edge. the one thing missing was an appropriate sheath; so, i designed and made one that takes its design cues from the angles at the back of the handle. i'm new to the sheath thing so it's definitely not perfect. but i was happy with how it came out, so i thought you guys might want to check it out...

I'm really looking forward to seeing more knives from Chris. That Apache looked pretty sweet...

Nice work on the sheath!! The warthog looks like a really cool profile that begs to be used -- the sheath shape, fit, and finish look to complement the knife quite well!

Chris does some nice work, and looking at the Warthog I like how he thinks. I really like that handle shape, for hard use or use when fatigued as well. I like the way a forward finger notch comes into play and offers an extra edge on control when dealing with slippery media or when exhausted. And as Will stated, that sheath compliments the knife very well, nicely done man.

brknfld,

I love to see new members jump right in posting reviews and photos. The Warthog looks like a solid practical design and Shadetree burlap is my favorite handle material. Your sheath looks very professional and the angles at the top compliment the knife design well. Good job!

I am not familiar with the smugmug photo hosting site. If they have an "IMG.code" option, try copying and pasting that in your post to see if the picture(s) appear.

I am really into Chris' designs. He didn't need any design coaching. His knives are going to be spectacular.

I really like your sheath, it truly does compliment the handle of the knife. Thank you for sharing the Warthog information, it sounds like an awesome blade.

:thumbup:Great looking knife and sheath combo! I like the skull and crossbones. :D

Brknfld, Thank you for posting pictures of the sheath you made. I really like how you took your design inspiration for the sheath from the angles on the knife. I couldn't have made a more beautiful and fitting sheath myself. Thank you as well for the positive review on the knife. It is always important and a pleasure to hear the customers feedback on my work. Keep up the great work on the sheaths and I look forward to meeting you in person at Blade Show in Atlanta.

Those are some awesome sheaths!!! That warthog is a fine looking knife too! Very cool.

Looking to get a well made sheath for my osprey. Last one forced the tip through the leather. Wasted like a hundred bucks or so.
