What do you'all know about the Darrel Ralph Osprey? Made in Italy, this guy I know from another forum got one for 15.00 with the rosewood handle. Beautiful thing, but what kind of steel? Is it durable? Your comments please.

Darrel is a famous knife maker with a great reputation. I have never handled this good looking knife but would be interested in it just because of Darrel's involvement. The guy definately knows knives.

I wonder you call that blade shape, I don't recall ever seeing anything like it before.

It appears from your photo that this is the same knife imported by Delta-Z around 2001/2002. They were selling for well over $100.00 at the time, (probably closer to $150.00), if I remember correctly. I own one, and it is a beautiful knife, well made. It's one of my safe queens, but it would make a good gentlemans knife - not designed for really hard use or abuse. Your friend got a heck of a deal!

I found a similar knife two weeks ago for $25.00 (plus shipping) but with G10 scales ( same blade). I just happened to find it in the clearance section of a well known knife site.

Mine is a Delta Z Osprey , but it's made in Taiwan not Italy. I've read on the forum that the Italian ones were better and were priced higher.

It's not a big knife, I bought it because it was priced low and it looked interesting, it was smaller and less robust than I though it would be. I don't know what the Taiwan version sold for in the 2001 -2002 but I wouldn't pay more than $35.00 for it.

However $15.00 for the knife above is a steal.... I didn't want to sound like I was knocking it....
