I'll admit I no very little about this round other that I hear it out performs the 44mag and does some serious damage? I saw the conversion last night for my 1911 and its sounds interesting and says I can still shoot my standard 45acp (like a 357 can shoot 38). So is the info I got correct? Is it worth it? Thanks in advance all.

You're basically taking the 45 up to 40 S&W pressure levels. Being the case is 1/16" longer than ACP, it may shoot ACP, but the shorter case would no longer headspace on the case mouth as designed--it would have to be extractor tension holding the case head in contact with the breech until the primer detonates. I've seen one stock conversion without compensator and the recoil spring was insanely heavy! To each his own, but not for me...

I agree with 358, like I have said many times get yourself a Glock 20 and live happily ever after or if that doesn't do it get a rifle. Plus 460 Rowland is also not as available as 10mm

I've been curious about .460 as we'll. I've got a gssf coupon that needs used and it sounds like a fun build. Never had a .44 mag but my gunshop is waiting on a Smith 69 for me. 10mm shoots really nice in my 1911's, so I think .460 would be fun.

I got my 10mm build all set...in my head..lol! The 460 in my 1911 just sounds fun and eventually do a glock in the 460 I'd also like to do a 50 GI conversion to a glock. Why? I don't know but sounds fun!

I don't think shits and giggles are something prohibited on this forum. I've got a Springer 1911 that could serve as a .460 conversion and Glocks are fun to play with as well. Anyone in south Bama have a .460 we can go play with?

Well fitting timing for this post, mine is on its way, I am converting my Springer 1911. The thing that attracted me was the ability to shoot 45acp, now I have heard the spring is very strong but the guy at Rowland confirmed today it will. So the thought is I will have a compensated 1911 to plink with and use the 460 loads for hunting or as a solid camp round. I ordered some of the underwood 460, the ballistics are outrageous, 1575 fps 1019ft/lbs of mussel energy. I will post a range report when it arrives

Get Both! Top is a long slide G20 10mm. Bottom one is a G21 with a 460 Rowland Conversion.

I don't recommend the 1911 No matter what brand they will all Crack the frame over time. The fracture or fractures will be around where the frame rails start and the slide stop pin goes through the frame. Seen a 45ACP with those same cracks/fractures. Glocks seem to hold up better over time for a conversion like this, but cuts down their MFG's estimated round count life. Not sure to what extent. I'm guessing better longevity has something to do with the polymer acting like a shock absorber. Just my 2¢

Well it seems like I should just get my glocks and do this 460 and my 10mm build. I was gonna get another glock soon and soon being in a month or so....the exchange got me again so not glock this month but maybe in 2 weeks or so. But my 10mm build is gonna be first!

What optics are you running? I wanna do an optic of some sort and do a combat slide mod and if need be use suppressor sights to use should my optics break ect

If you can, use a frame mounted optic. None of the Micro red dots like the slide mounted position and unfortunately your optic WILL fail! Bad part about slide mounted optics. However if you do go slide mounted use Vortex Razor or Leupold Delta point they hold up better than all their competitors. Vortex is better in my opinion because it has a lifetime warranty and Leupold has only two year after purchase if memory serves me correctly. Check with http://www.speedshooter.com/category_list.cfm?ID=MO&Mounts these guys are easy to deal with and sell quality products.

Also pictures of your build other it didn't happen lol

I converted my G21 and was happy with it although I needed to upgrade my magazine springs to alleviate a stovepiping/bad shooting form issue. Rowland then recalled my barrel. I sent it in 2 months ago and have yet to receive a replacement or update of any kind. They're a small outfit so I'll cut them some slack. It sure is accurate even with all the blast and boom.

Both are Trijicon rmr. One is the dual illuminated and one is the adj. led. Many rounds through these guns and no optic failure yet.
