came in the mail yesterday. I got a silver Thor's hammer with a raven on it and the Swedish Normark folder. The hammer is nicely cast and a good replica of a historical piece. Feels nice around my neck. The knife fits my hand well, is light weight but thick enough to hold on to and has a nice thin blade. I know Uncle says "If it don't rust, don't trust it" but it was only offered in Sandvik stainless. As money permits I'll certainly order from Ragnar again, already have my eye on a couple of things.

I got one of the Normarks from Ragnar a while a go. Nice, handy size. And VERY sharp. Ragnar's a great guy to do business with.

A friend, a good man...er...a nice guy gifted me with one of Ragnar's "Nessmuk" double-bitted belt axes.

Scary little thang. For all the cuts I've administered to myself, this tool actually intimidates me with its edges! It is cast, not forged, but to-date that makes no difference. I'd guess edge Rockwell about 60. It has a long, thin oak handle, and weighs a pound or less.

High quality, and made to be used. Ragnar has impressed me.

Funny. My first khuk and my wandering into the Cantina were the result of a search for a Nessmuk-type cutting tool. Cliff Stamp sent me here.

Blame him.

I used one of his little double bits on a 4 day backpacking trip last weekend and the edge held up wonderfully. I was also using it to cut wood for my wood burning Sierra Zip Backpacking stove.

I like a khukuri better than a hatchet really, but at 15oz the little hatchet goes when weight is a problem.

Here's a link to some pix of my trip. We had fantastic weather the whole time and great views:

Hatchets get far fewer nervous glances than khuks do. But who cares? Unless some white women campers go missing and you have people telling the police

"Um yeah, there was some guy with a large, scary knife here yesterday."

I can picture the evening news headlines.

Ragnar is good guy to do business with, I was just out in the garage and noticed that the Karda's blade that came with my BDC is almost exactly the same length as my smallest puukp from RWF.

Hmmmm

Hey, HD, those are some great pictures you took. Looks like a bunch of fun.

It was awesome Ard!

The final leg on the unofficial trail we wasted an hour finding the end of one of the trails, and we got off the one trail connector and had to chop our way backward thru a laurel thicket till we picked up the trail again. Got bloody legs doing that (mental note: no shorts while bushwhacking ;) ) We were planned pretty tight so those delays put us behind, so when we got to a forest road we decided to walk the final 4 miles to the truck on the road rather than the trail cause it was about an hour from dark. Luckily some guys in a pickup coming out from camping gave us a ride to our car.

But even with the getting lost a little was well worth it! And now we know the way and can do it more efficiently next year!
