OT: And now for something completely different...

Good stuff, and thanks.

I recently noticed that the Kurosawa films are available on Dee Vee Dee. Perhaps I'll cash in some of my collection of soft drink cans for some of thems.

The DVDs are around 20+ dollars, last I checked. I'm searching on eBay for one I can afford.

Magnificent Seven is less, of course. Be neat to have the two.

I think the author missed out on another major element in the differences in the movies...the egos of the actors in Mag. Seven.

Some of these guys were new-ish, others were at their height of success. I was just watching background stuff on THE GREAT ESCAPE, and there is quite a bit of actor-ego-massaging going on...strangely enough, with Steve McQueen, one of my favorites. He wanted to be the HERO. In an ensemble movie...that's quite a feat.

The Kurosawa Samurai films are excellent, I love them. The Severn Samurai is perhapse the finest, the characterisations are fantastic, particularly Toshiro Mifune's character.

I don't think I've ever seen the Magnificent Seven in its entirety. I keep thinking Yul Bryner is going to jump into a chariot to start chasing people across the Red Sea.
