awhile back in the exchange forums i had posted a hand carved meerschaum pipe tamper for trade and got no bites at all and i was just looking at it here on my desk and i would love to give it one of my new HI friends--would like to have it go to someone that will enjoy it as i did--it's just starting to get a little color to it from use--i gave up pipe smoking awhile back and have no use for it now

Meerschaum is very delicate...be careful to not have it inside the sweat and then suddenly take it outside into cold...there's a good chance it would shatter. You could simply pocket it to allow it to change temperature slowly.

BTW, I used to be a Board member and web master for the North American Society of Pipe Collectors...still have a modest collection and enjoy smoking them.

I used to be a contributor and supporter of Pipes Digest on the web. I haven't smoked a pipe in awhile. I have a nice collection. Some from my dad including some beautiful Dunhills and an old Petersen.
 
I used to moderate a couple of sections...we may know one another.

Uwinv I had forgotten about your pipe collection. I'll be very careful with it.
I also wasn't thinking about the size. If it's too big to fit my Pipe I'll send it on to you if it's alright with Yiterp.

no problem at all but i bet it will work out fine--if it is a little to big just sand to size at the tip and polish back with a high grip paper--will look like it was made that size :eek: :) :eek:
