HOGS---Here is the Asymmetrical folder. Is this the blade shape Jerry did for his FB's? Thanks!

I can't tell for sure from the pics, but that looks like a chisel grind that's been sharpened on both sides? Anyway, that's not what the asymetrical Busse's look like-their main grinds are symetrical, it is the edge on the Busse that is varied from one side to the other.

from what I understand, the asymetrical grind means that one side of the edge bevel is v ground, and the other side is convex.

Lee---I saw this maker, Black Bear Knives, at the Lewisburg Knife Show. These folders jumped up at me. Hare's the scoop:
3.5" blade of CPM154-CM, Bead Blast, asymmetrical grind. G-10 scales with No steel liners. Mike uses a recessed Locking Spring Bar. Knife weight 2.5oz. Flipper opener and or a Ball opener, like a Wave. Other options are available. This Metro Razor is my folder EDC! Thanks. Any more questions?

Hey Mark---KM Azz!! :p
Me stinks on that camera. My wife takes good pix with it.
I am DONE folder shopping---until the Busse Folder is available!!!

Lee---Google, Black Bear Knives. There should be more pix and info on their web-site; they need to up-grade that site. Mike is the Man. Let me know how you make out.

I was SO tempted to buy one of those at the show! Awesome man! Those are some quality knives.

All patent pending means is that someone filed a patent application. All one would have to do to defeat the app is to show that the claims of the patent (the asym edge) was obvious to someone knowledgeable in the field, or that it was covered in another patent, or that someone else invented it first, or... Is sharpening the flat side of a chisel ground blade obvious? Maybe not to chisel ground knife makers. Maybe so for someone that has used a chisel ground blade. Busse had an asym edge, but it was different from this one. Would Busse's use of the asym edge invalidate the patent (first to invent)? Depends on the claims.

Lycosa, did you get one at the show? His discounts at the show seemed really good. I will catch up with them sometime. ;)

Bro---No. Mike only had the Aluminum handles. I did ask him at the show, if he would ever offer G-10 and he said, he just did. I placed an order right there and then. I Love this folder. My QCQ-7 is in the night-stand.

That is a weird grind. It is chisel (left bias) but the flat side has a convex treatment at the edge grind. My guess is this is just some marketing angle (forgive the pun) to let him stand out from the crowd. I can't see any benefit to this type of grind other than being unique. And as we all know, unique is not the same as functional.

Bizarre.
