OT- avatar-??????

I apologize for not having any khukuri content here but the Cantina is about the only place I post nowadays. I am guessing that those little pictures under peoples names are avatars. (just read Skagsig40's post)

Where are the instructions on how to put one of these up?

Jaeger Hello again!!! I'm loving the SS! Even following the instructions I can't get it to work! I'm going to need someone to help in person I think! Let me know if you have any luck!;)
 
Grab a pic of something you would like as an avatar.
Reduce it in size to 50 X 50 pixels with your photo program, I think that's the limit in size.
Then store the avatar pic in a file or new folder.

Then come back to bladeforums and click on the user cp. Then click on edit options.
Go to the bottom where it says change avatar, click on that and follow directions from there.
When it takes you to the page where it says 'browse' click on the browse button and go to your avatar file or folder.
Double left mouse click on the pic of the avatar in your file or folder and that should move the avatar into the blank browse box.
Follow the directions and you should have it.

I have the Infan Program courtesy of Blues, but I don't know the original URL where I got it from. It's a free program and works very well. Blues also gave me instruction over the phone, but that's cause I'm really new at real computers.:)

I also have a couple of other photo programs that came with the computer that I'm also learning to use. Each one has different advantages and disadvantages.
If you don't have a photo shop you could pro'lly do a search unless someone here can give you an URL.

I'm glad that you're enjoying the Super Salyan! I hated to part with it but I know that you are giving it a good home.

Disregard that last question. Thanks Yvsa. How are you liking the real computer as opposed to the WebTV? I have found that I can do a lot more with the computer but there were a LOT less hassles and problems with WebTV. I think I'll keep my computer anyway!

I have to agree it's not as hassle free as the webbie, but the added benefits make it well worth while IMO.:)

Glad you got your avatar working, now if Chris can just get his fixed.:)
 
Chris, make sure that the picture you have is a jpeg file. That was my first problem. Then you just have to ship it to whatever photo program you have and reduce it to the correct size. My program doesn't tell you how many pixels the picture is so it was trial and error until I got one to fit!
Keep at it. If I can do you certainly can.
 
Blues sized the pix for my avatar, sent it to me, and instructed me as to how to get it up. If I can do it anybody can do it.
 
Chris,

The first step is to find a pic you like. If you need it resized, to fit, I'd do it for you. Then all you'd need to be able to do would be to attach it to an e-mail message to me and I'd fix it for you.

When you're looking for a pic, remember that you can't get a lot of detail into the permitted size. Find something simple. A khukuri seems to work well.:)
