OT: Beautiful Brusletto hunter

Just gotta Love those Saammi Knives!!!! I love my Leuko and Puukko set I got from Ragnar.

Nasty likes it too.:D ;)

I gave my grandson a nice little puukko from Sweden that I hope he is using instead of keeping it put up because grandpa gave it to him. :grumpy:

Has anyone ever noticed how so many of these knives have the handle carved so that when lain on a flat surface the top of the handle rolls in such a way as to keep the edge off the surface it's lain on?

Out her in ArnoldLand it seems that many knife shops don't like them. Most common reason seems to be the lack of guard. Liability rears its ugly head again in the land of too many lawyers.
Yvsa- Considering that the Laps have been dependant on their knives for over a thousand years for doing almost everything it makes sense that they purposefully design the handle to protect the blade.

Had a reputation for being powerful shamans, seeresses, oracles, and magicians.

They certainly have a witchy way with steel, don't they?

Yea, but most people don't notice. ;)

The Hunter is not a Saami knife. It`s a norwegian knife made by the company Brusletto or Helle of Geilo.
Tollekniven (cutting/carving knife in norwegian) and the Saami knife may look similar but there are some small differences.
None have a handguard though.

They seem to be one of the few cultures that put emphasis on creating a sheath to match the beauty of the knife. Makes them expensive, but what else are you gonna spend money on? Beer doesn't seem to last in my fridge.

May not be made by the Saammi but patterned after their blades, that makes it Saammi in my book.:p
Would be the same thing if it was a Beaver Tail Dagger made by someone other than an ndn and most were, but were still ndn Beaver Tail Daggers.
