Hurricane Charley is just now coming ashore between Tampa and Fort Myers with winds of 100 to 145 mph (I just heard that it’s now a category four storm).
I have had my fair share of Hurricanes and I know that they will need all the help they can get. Keep safe and my prayers going out.

Thanks, Jose!

We're braced and ready here in St. Augustine. We won't likely be hit by any of the big winds like our neighbors to the south, but we're expecting lots rain and maybe the chance to use our khukuris in the clean-up!

My brother was on a mission trip in tampa but is now visiting with our aunt in orlando. The house suffered no damage however the trees did (I think that the neighboor shed or car suffered damage when the tree fell over though). They are without power. The winds were 100mph and my auts house was near the edge (but still inside) of the eye of the storm. I guess they were in there for (second hand info) an hour and a half.

I'm hoping the water runs off the back of the duck...

Nature proves without any doubt that it is indifferent no mater how much we put into our ideals and concepts, or how important we think those things in our day to day life are. Or how centered we are in our on small world. Perhaps we think we have some sort of power but we cannot control much more than our own actions.

That old saying there is always someone bigger and tougher was proven.

By now you have seen the photos and the news footage of the horror.

A cash donation to the red cross or similar will help, having been in Andrew and having been part of emergency response for 17 years I can tell you it does make a difference.

The help right now is on the way, in Andrew the military helped; FEMA is better now then back in those days.

But remember this is a long recovery so money helps as supplies will need to be offered a month from now, and as things get more under control the distribution will improve.

That is when money helps most...as the red cross says no amount of help is ever too small.

Send your smoke and prayers for all those in need….. and a couple of bucks would be nice too.
