Any bow guys on here? Just bought a 02 bowtech extreme solo for 250. Good price? Anyone know a decent archery forum?

archery forum

I read this forum from time to time. It is not bad (my main archery forum is German and more dedicated to olympic recurve archery). I do not know the bowtech bowss. I have a Hoyt Striker from 1998 I shoot from time to time for fun. Mostly I shoot olympic recurve as a competitive sport - so I am not an expert on compound bows - but 250 US$ seems to be a good price.

Lots of bow guys here Eric.:D It's just taking them a while to chime in.
I'm a fan of the self bow and ndn bows from all tribes. ;)

$250 is a good price (not a steal)

What kind of shooting do you plan on doing?

If so, (or if similar) then yes, you got a good deal.

Having a few extra goodies always sweetens it.

Yep, that's it exactly. I'm going to be shooting field targets at a local range, at distances ranging 15-80 yards, unmarked. Just casually with my friends. I had an old PSE nova, a wheelie, that I used to use. Very accurate and nice at close range, but when the targets got out past 30 yards or so, I had to be very, very good with judging distance and holdover. Which I'm not. The bowtech's IBO is 325-333 fps, so I hope the extra speed will cover for my bad eyes. I'm used to shooting fingers though. I'll probably need to get a release for this one. I like self bows too, and even made a few a couple years back. Like with HI's blades, they've got a simple, pure sort of quality. But, for day to day shooting, they're a bit large and cumbersome to pull around. Probably blasphemy on here, but I'm likely to get a peep and some other doodads for this thing.

thought it came with a fiber optic sight on it already?

Anyway....15-80 yds is a pretty good disparity in target shooting. You'll probably end up setting your sights at one end or the other.

Either way - looks like a very fun bow.

I shoot fingers too, btw.

Nothing wrong with doodads. Toys are fun, even if they have to have cams and pulleys .... ;) :D
I'm a bow guy too. Mostly recurves and the occasional longbow. Got a beautiful Saxon Hawk from Oldbow.com. I'll post a pic when I get a chance...

Happy shooting!

I like shooting bows. Trouble is I'm "kinda" run down and can't do it much anymore. My grandson got a decent size catfish out of the lake with a fishing arrow set up. ;)

I'm lucky to have a big yard to practice. Even if I don't do so good. :)

Yes, but I'm going to stick a peep site onto the string as an anchor reference, rather than just going by feel. Probably need to get a mechanical release. And arrows. Arrows are expensive. Does everyone cut them to length themselves? I used to buy precut arrows, but it's cheaper to get full length ones online.

a friend of mine built his own arrow-saw following this description. Works very well with carbon and aluminium arrows and saves a lot of money...

hand-made arrow-saw

Most of it should be understandable - if you have questions because you do not understand the language feel free to ask.

easy to understand, Andreas. Looks neat. Simple solution to the problem.
