OT But our young men & women still need us

Stephen, I appreciate your giving us this address. This is a tough time of the year to be a soldier away from home; much less, in a strange hospital recovering from wounds. Strange, but my wife commented this afternoon (while reading the paper) on the number of our young men and women who have suffered injury while doing their duty. We really don't get the details from the media as to injuries; and maybe that's a good thing. I, for one, would have a hard time dealing with it.

Well, I said more than I planned to. Stephen, I will be putting some things together as suggested on the website. Thanks again.

Thanks for this link. I sent it to my address book. Sometimes we forget the debt.

50 years ago I spent Thankksgiving aboard the USS Warrington -- first time very away from home. Somehow the turkey just didn't taste the same.

Gents, don't thank me, they are the ones who did all the hard work and are hurting. And you know what, the public won't remember long, they never do. Back in '77 I was badly injured and far from home. Believe me, a young serviceman can be mighty lonely, body broke and not knowing what life will be like from now on. Just hearing from folks, maybe an encouraging note too, will make a tremendous difference, more than you might imagine. Your answers bring a tear to this old Coastie's eye. God bless you all.

Stephen
