Just got a package in the mail. In was a couple of the "Captians of Crush"grippers someone mentioned in a thread a while back. Got a #1 and a #2. These things are tough. Can close the #2 but the #1 is plenty tough enough to workout with.

Went down the same road myself, Hoghead, except put the word 'barely' before the 'close #2'

I use a couple of wet sponges from Safeway.

Other than crushing the occasional windpipe, what will you be using your new found grip strength for?

I think that if you get past the #2 and can close the #3 you get to be a registered "Captain of Crush". Then you can go for the #4 and when you can close that one you can crush pool balls and really impress your friends!

Going to have to be careful with bananas! Can just see a lawsuit coming when I grab one and have it squirt out the end like in the cartoons and hit the neighbor across the street in the head!

If you can close the #2, you are an animal :) That's 195lbs of pressure. I can close the #1 (140lbs) but I'm still working at the #2.

This is the first I have heard of these things. Where do you find them? Brick and mortar or web only? Also, does it start with like a 1/4 or something? I am sort of on the wet sponge level too:D

Cool. Thanks for the links. Here is a stupid question. Is there any benefit to buying one for each hand and using them at the same time? If not, then I will probably only get one and pass it back and forth.

Well I've been called an animal many times and acted like one in the few times of my life I happened to be single, and I came close to the definition here, but only close.;)
I used to be able to squeeze 175 pounds on the device at the hand surgeon's who repaired a badly injured ring finger on the left hand. :p :D
The left side of it still has little feeling.:(
Oh, and that was with both hands too!!!!:p  :D

He was a Filipino Doc and a dayumed good one, but never did quite get over how much grip I had and without working out or training.
I inherited what used to be my Popeye Forearms from my Grandfather.:D

I have only heard of using one at at time, which is what I do. It takes all of my concentration to just squeeze the one, without gritting my teeth too hard. I'd also guess that your dominant hand would get most of the workout if you used two.

I'm not a strength trainer/bodybuilder or anything like that. Just speaking from a little bit of experience.

Animal? I can close the #1 and the #2.......Of course I have to use BOTH hands and the elbows up at shoulder level and then..... maybe it'll help the pecs. I don't know:rolleyes:

Dawgone Eric, you must be a pretty stout fella.
