i'm looking for metal balls from 1/2" up to 1" (i can use bigger ones too, at the right price)...this isn't for knifemaking so i'm not too concerned about what kind of steel they're made of...i know MSC sells them, but i was hoping maybe someone has a mess of 'em in their shop and is looking to get rid of them...MSC gets kinda pricey for the big sizes and i'd like a substantial quantity...

if you have a source or have any of your own, email me or post it here...

thanks guys!

i went ahead and ordered a little bit from MSC, but i can probably use more over time...whatchya got? if i can afford it, i'd like anywhere from 25-50 in 1/2", 3/4" and 1"...assuming shipping costs aren't huge for that much weight...

I am a scrounger from way back. I don't have any left now but a tip if you don't mind asking strangers for stuff is your local water treatment plant.

I used to work for the water authority in western Australia. What they do is shut down a heap of electrick motors and pumps in the winter and do maintanance on them. That was when we got most of the big ones.
Ther is a steady flow of small motors breaking down but the big ones are fixed before they break.

1/2 inch where common all the time 3/4 to about 1,1/4 were winter shut down.

We would keep a big box full of them and give them to anyone who asked.
Normally someone would come allong to get some for the kids to play with.

Just be carefull as you are cutting them out of the races. The races if really punished can chip and send razor sharp sliver at you. (that is the smaller ones the big ones make a thin chisel to cut the spacing straps.
