I know we have a lot of Hunters on here, so I hope no one minds the stray from the norm...

I was given this by a taxidermist friend who is taking me under his wing. I've done a few Euros now, and have the general hang of it. But this... I've never even heard of something like this. It was found in this exact condition. Obviously died in velvet and then just had the right conditions to allow the antler to harden. CRAZY!!! The lucky one who found it would like it whitened, but I'm a little concerned about how to go about it. The rack is hard, almost coral like. My Wife says it looks like Cauliflower!

Here's all the sheds I've picked up in the last month!!! A lot were given to me by others in our group who knew I would want them The Full skull I am holding is just under 140", it would have been 140" if the main beams tip hadn't broken off. With the breakage it was 136.75". There had been a lot of fires, so the sheds stood out. I have lots to practice repairs and staining on. Plenty for craft projects as well. Got some cool ideas for the holidays!

For size reference, the container is 40 gallons!

Yowza!!

That is crazy!!!!

Your friend ought. to call Cabelas and see if they are interested in buying it. . .. . Urban legend is that they pay big bucks (pardon the pun) for racks like that.

Very cool ! ! ! !

Jerry :D

Wowwwww....that's one of the coolest things I have seen in a while. I went searching for sheds Saturday in hopes to find the 12-point that alluded me during hunting season :grumpy:

Wow! never seen anything like that!

I would take Jerry's advice on this one.

Thanks for the great pics:thumbup:

Way cool!

I love shed hunting and don't get to do it enough.:thumbdn:

I wonder if you could just dip that rack in shellac or urethane clear and let it hang dry:confused:

Maybe something to look into if Cabelas isn't shelling out the doe.

And the big boy was a dandy buck, I'd a ripped apart a state looking for that one IF I had a bad shot on him.

Thanks for sharing

I didn't know they shed their whole head....Damn!!
You must live in "Sleepy Hollow" ;)

When I was cleaning heads for a Native Supply shop, we always used Hydrogen Peroxide for skull whitening. You have to be licensed to get medical grade here, but off the shelf might work.
