Anyone handled one of these puppies - is the blade symetrical on both sides or is it flat on one side and ground on the other ??

...The CRKT Steve Corkum First Strike is on my "to buy list"! I really like Steve's Japanese-style cord-wrapped minimal handle design. The description on the CRKT site sez it has a convex edge. Finally, they did something right!

As far as I know, the blade isn't chisel ground, it is ground on both sides for our cutting pleasure. :D

How did this old thread come back to life? Were you reading dusty threads. JerzyB?

I'm wondering- if the chisel grind was best suited for all around use, we'd have seen it there more often.

sheesh...heckuva first post. :D

And you knuckleheads keep replying to it...

wait...that makes me one too. :foot:

:p

Yeah, where did this one come from and who's replying to it?! Oh, wait... :D

Actually I have 4 of these and they are great knives. I happen to like chisel grinds as being simple to sharpen and maintain, but these are solid convex edges, not chisel grinds. Very strong knives and relatively inexpensive.

Actually folks, a month or so ago, Brendan showed up in Raman__'_ Forum, making me try to guess who it was. He changed jobs, is happily married, and...stuff.

I loved the way Bill M. would tease him.

geeze...I gotta go back and move 3 year old threads too?

I want a raise.

Being as how I'm naive about a lot of things, can someone tell me if there is a rotten motive for resurrecting old threads? No, not this one- I'm assuming this was just brought back by an offhand comment by a newbie.

But I mean- raising old threads- When Kismet does it we have nostalgia and looking back, and he doesn't raise them but provides a link to them.
But- what is the result of a old thread being raised? What bad thing happens? Who is it supposed to hurt? The forum? Mod? I always wondered.

Why isn't he posting over here anymore? I've read lots of his stuff in the archives, and... why?

Guess that answered my question. Hello Brendan, good to meet you. Glad to see you posting again. Your wisdom is missed.

Well, hell; if bringing up an old thread brings Brendan in to say Hello let's bring up more old threads!!!

Dang it's been too long since we saw you, Brendan.

Nothing at all wrong with reviving old threads (or old friends)...there is *much* of *great* value there and it deserves revisiting.

This only got moved because it was OT and in the (new) wrong place.

I certainly agree...it got Brendan to post...a good thing indeed.

Welcome home Brendan!
