OT: Doll held hostage

I saw that. The little action figure looks exactly like the hostage; including the equipment. Wonder what they'll claim when they grab Ronald McDonald. Maybe next they will kidnap Kermit and claim that they captured a Frogman.

There are places that make Dolls out of most of the famous people you can think of. (three 'ofs' in a sentence is bad writing.)

It would be funny to release a counter propaganda tape showing Kissinger and Dr Rice negotiating with another Doll for release of the captive.

Kismet, I looked. Bullwinkle is there but Rocky is missing! Aaarrgh. Kidnapped by extremists. Like Aardvark says, I hope he has that karda under his hat.

Ice :D

BTW, Rocky is in the upper right of the picture. NOT a good likeness.

Aardvark?

In truth, Rocky was not that good-looking, but the camera loved him.

"Horse" is there. What a great name. Jay Ward was insane in the very best way.

They should have left an honorary spot in the display for 'The Narrator'. That's what really made the cartoons for me, when I got older anyway.

Scrappleface is a constantly updated satire site, very funny stuff. Today he had this very good news from Baghdad:
Captive U.S. Soldier Doll Rescued by Bush Doll
by Scott Ott

(2005-02-01) -- Just hours after Islamic militants in Iraq threatened to behead a kidnapped U.S. soldier doll, the camouflaged action figure was rescued in a daring nighttime operation by a toy George W. Bush action figure.

The nine-inch-tall replica of the president left Andrews Air Force Base in a scale model of Air Force One within minutes after the Pentagon learned of the kidnapping from a picture on an Islamic website.

The top-secret flight was reminiscent of the life-size president's Thanksgiving visit to Baghdad in 2003. During the long trip, the presidential doll was programmed to say intimidating things in Arabic, and reportedly spent several hours practicing his kung-fu grip.

Even as the mission was secretly under way, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-MA, went before the Senate to call for the immediate withdrawal of 12,000 military action figures from Iraq.

Upon hearing of the Bush doll's successful mission, Sen. John Kerry, D-MA, warned against "overhyping" the significance of the apparently heroic deed.

Nothin' like the Bommerang Cartoon Channel for the old school cartoons!
They've even got the Justice League, Popeye, Rocky & Bullwinkle and Mr.Magoo.

It's amazing to watch my kids watch the same shows that I watched sometimes.

BTW- Am I the only one on the planet that remembers a short-lived sort of SNL type show that used to come on Friday nights called, you guessed it, "Fridays"?

They used to do skits with GI Joe and Barbie dolls that had me rolling.

I was easily amused in my youth  :)

Ah, Rocky and Bullwinkle. Helping a whole generation of kids laugh at funny, weak communists who could bested by a flying rodent and a dim-witted bovine:D Boris was always my favorite. I always liked how he would say "Is mhoose ahnd Skwirl!" or tell the narrator to "Shaddup you mouth".
