"the award-winning futuristic classic of the world ravaged by plague and struggling with hope."

Just re-read it. I like it better the second time. It has less to do with "survivalists" as we have come to know them, and more to do with a reflective person's experiences as a new small society evolves, and with his sense of place within it, and the world.

I got it some time ago on the internet, paperback version, 337 pp, don't remember where.

Oddly, the 50+ years since he wrote it don't affect the story much at all.

An excellent Sci-fi novel. I'll have to dig it out and re-read it. It's been probably fifteen years since I last read it. I've always enjoyed post-apocalyptic fiction.

Kismet-- Have you ever read

A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter Miller?

I remember also, despite years without hearing it mentioned.

A Canticle for Leibowitz, too!

get my email? I don't trust the way this thing is working.

Thanks.

Josh, I will investigate your suggestion. I haven't read it. Thank you.

Kismet-- just finished re-reading Earth Abides. It really made me think about how tenuous our hold on "civilization" really is. Thanks again for reminding me about this book. Great food for thought.
